HOW TO WRITE A HIGH QUALITY RESUME?

APPEARANCE, STRUCTURE AND LENGTH OF THE RESUME

  • In the introductory part, a short summary can be added that generally describes the person writing the resume, briefly highlighting qualifications and experience, and further career interests.
  • It is also advisable to list the section entitled “Achievements”, and list the successes or results that the person has achieved perhaps in a previous job or outside, and that they correlate with the application. Here it is important to be specific, not to write in general.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • State the name of the employer, the name of the job, the duration of employment and a description of the main responsibilities
  • If there are more employers, sort them chronologically from the newest to the oldest
  • Provide also information on volunteering, if any, with a detailed description of the task, and information on the organization and time period
  • Participation in the project is an important piece of information and should be listed with all the information mentioned, if any

EDUCATION

  • The term education refers to the highest completed education, ie formal education: name of the institution, acquired title, start date and end date
  • If you want to list more formal educations, start with the chronologically newest one to the older ones
  • List all non-formal education (either online or live) such as seminars, workshops and similar activities where certificates of achievement or attendance are obtained

KNOWLEDGE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES / COMPUTER LITERACY / HOBBIES

  • Indicate the mother tongue as the first, then knowledge of foreign languages ​​according to the level of knowledge (eg advanced, intermediate, basic knowledge)
  • Indicate computer literacy in terms of knowledge of MS Office packages, social networks, programming languages ​​/ applications, web design, etc., always with information on the level of knowledge of the above: advanced, intermediate, basic.
  • It is desirable to mention hobbies, ie leisure activities, but be careful what and how because they talk a lot about the person. Ideally, they are correlated with the job for which they are applying.

LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR

  • The resume should not be written in long narrative sentences, but briefly and concisely in the notes, so that it is easy for the employer to get the information in a few seconds.
  • Everything that is written must be orthographically and grammatically correct, because otherwise the resume can be immediately excluded from the further selection procedure.
  • For writing, it is best to use common fonts such as Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri and Verdana and always make sure that the letters with brackets are written correctly: č, ć, đ, š, ž.

MOST COMMON ERRORS

  • “Less is more” – in the desire to make the resume as good as possible, sometimes we play with creativity and in the end we get a result that is endless and complicated, and we do not want that
  • Extensiveness and detail because it prevents the employer from immediately getting a picture of the candidate
    Inserting sayings and quotes because they have no place in a resume
  • Exaggerating or falsifying educations and abilities because they will be revealed sooner or later and cause problems
    The resume does not need to be signed

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE A QUALITY CURRICULUM VITAE?

  • A resume is a type of ID card, it represents all the important information about a person
  • A resume is a springboard for a journey into the business world and a first contact with an employer
  • A quality resume helps to get the job you want more easily
  • A resume is important when looking for your first job, but also when looking for a change and better working conditions when moving from one job to another.
  • In addition to looking for a job, a resume is also required when applying for any other competition or enrolling in additional education

  • Before applying for a job, it is great to review your resume and personalize it according to a specific employer and thus let it be known that you have prepared well and studied the responsibilities of your future job.
  • The resume should be saved in pdf format and sent to the recipient because it cannot be changed, and it will keep exactly the form you want.
  • A resume is not the same as a job application or a letter of motivation, these are separate documents that are created according to special rules.
